CreativeCH – Creative Cooperation in Cultural Heritage

Official website

CreativeCH offers organisations, municipalities and regions the opportunity to develop new ways and initiatives to communicate and promote cultural heritage for purposes such as regional development, tourism and citizen cultural participation, relying on the cooperation between Cultural Heritage, Cultural and Creative Industries and Science&Technology.

PIN leads the project through the VAST-LAB research unit and in partnership with the following European cultural and scientific institutes: Salzburg Research, The University of Coimbra, Museu de la Ciència i de la Tècnica de Catalunya, Universitatea de Vest din Timisoara e MFG Medien – und Filmgesellschaft Baden-Wuerttemberg.

The main objective of this project is to demonstrate the benefits generated by the combination of cultural content, knowledge, creativity and technology. Further, CreativeCH developed and promoted showcases centered on creative cooperation in the four partner regions.
As with all projects coordinated by VAST-LAB, great attention was placed on training young professionals and researchers. Engaging and providing training to students on knowledge and communication of diversity and cultural heritage is, in fact, one of the most important outputs of the project. To this end, a CreativeCH virtual forum was created for young European researchers, artists and professionals to enable them to discuss topics of interests and to present their own projects. The idea was to create a network of organizations and experts that would share the knowledge and experience gained through other European initiatives.

The project partners realized four initiatives in Italy, Austria, Spain and Romania, while the project itself was linked to a European master program (Euromachs) to involve students and young people, offering them new perspectives in the field of cultural creative industries.

In Italy, to promote two different areas in Tuscany with a great touristic potential capable of attracting high quality tourism, VAST-LAB developed three showcases characterized by an innovative approach that combined cultural heritage with nature and the valorization of local products.
The three interventions, in Carmignano, Roselle (Grosseto) and Vetulonia (Castiglione della Pescaia) aimed to value “minor”, yet equally noteworthy, centers.
An app for smartphones and tablets was developed for each of these three locations constituting an interactive digital guide for visitors to the sites.
